On at 10PM, the Quest channel (Freeview 38) ... I watched an earlier showing of this programme the other day and it's quite interesting. It follows the Tyco Resolute which is a submarine communications cable laying vessel. It has to lay a large amount of fibre optic cable, for Costa Rica, and connect it to previously installed submarine cables. Not everything goes smoothly and at $100,000 per day to hire the ship the pressure is on.

If, like me, you think networks of huge undersea fibre optic communications cables are fascinating you'll probably like it.

:)

Sounds cool, not sure if my freeview box has picked this channel up yet though :(

and I don't know how to retune it!

This type of programme is on 24*7*365 over around 30 channels.

Why bring it up now?

I actually like these sorts of programmes so i'm not knocking it, just wondering why the special mention?

I only get Freeview so I've never seen it before (only seen one other short programme on this type of vessel). Just thought it might be worth catching before they move on to the next "Mighty Ship" in the series.

EDIT: It's not the "type" of programme I'm posting about, it's the submarine cable speciality I'm interested in.

If you are into all of this rubbish (as i am) you might as well get the mix through sky which covers all of the discovery channels. This sort of thing is on 24*7 :)

Nope, don't have Sky, don't want Sky (Freesat or paid). I'm not really into wall to wall transmissions of this type of programme, it was just my interest in fibre optic comms cables.

I think Quest is the most disappointing channel to launch on freeview, for months there was a placeholder message on the channel saying an exciting new channel was coming soon. Then 8 months later this borefest rolls along.
