I have my bike theory test tomorrow and I am hoping I pass, just wondering what to expect in the test. is it fairly easy if you know your road signs and general road use having been driving for over 4 years ?

I hope I pass as my actual CBT test is on Saturday, again any tips as to what to expect here too ?

Thanks.

You do know that you don't need to have done your theory test to do the CBT don't you?

Theory test should be easy, the only thing that might catch you out is the hazard perception if you don't know when to click. Stupid thing is you can get no points if you click too early as well as too late. So make sure you click a few times in succession for each hazard.

CBT is almost un-failable. The only reason they wouldn't pass you is if you were a danger on the road and needed further training (which should be given free, but you may have to pay the additional bike hire depending on the training centre used). Also turning up drunk etc would be bad. It's much easier than you might expect though, but you may still be bricking it if you have no previous road experience like I didn't :o . Edit: just re-read your post and you have 4 years in a car, so it will just be learning how to ride the bike then.

Ok thanks for the heads up dude

The business about the hazard perception test and clickig 3 times to make sure you have registered the hazard, I thought rapidly clicking dropped you points ?

Ok i failed the actual theory test but passed the hazard preception test :(

But I am now confused, I have read that if you already own a full UK driving licence and have already passed a theory test for that (which I have) then all you need to sit is the CBT. This will alllow you to ride up to a 125cc with L plates on the road.

So did I even need to sit the theory test is what I am now wondering ?

to do the CBT you dont need to do the theory test. After passing the theory test you can then take it to the 'real' test but for that you need your theory.

After your CBT as you said you can ride up to a 124cc with power output no more than 14bhp.

with full licence held before something like 199x you are automatically entitled to ride a moped (49cc) without L plates. which means you can carry a pillion.

As said above, you dont need a theory test to do a CBT, i always though u needed the CBT for the bike theory but obv not lol

Haven't done my bike theory test, but passed my CBT on tuesday :D To be honest, if you listen to the instructor, don't ride like a knob and you will be fine. I have to book my theory as hoping to do my DAS soon too. Good luck, and remember its kinda hard to fail a CBT :)

I just wondered does the hazard perception test part for a bike theory test have it from the pov of riding a bike or is it still from a car pov?

Considering doing DAS soon and just curious :)

The hazard perception part is exactly the same for both car and bike, using the exact same clips. The questions are exactly the same too, just with some extra ones for the bike. You'll probably get about 3 out of the 35 that are bike specific yet we have to pay £21.50 even if you have already passed one for a car  (I did mine within about a month of eachother).

Heh I can imagine all the people doing the bike version unconsciously leaning around corners ;).

I guess it's kind of a good idea making it compulsory if, like me, you didn't do the hazard perception for your car driving test. But it's still a stupid test.

Dont mean to sound too harsh, but I honestly cant see how anyone can fail the Theory test  Unless english isnt your first language?

As for the CBT, as mentioned already, you dont need the theory to ride a 125 bike on a CBT, only if you want to take a bike test to ride something bigger.

Well I have to admit to not doing any revision what so ever and some of the weird road signs caught me out I think :(

A bit of revision is required for the next time around.

If you go on to the DSA website, you can do some mock tests, which use real questions. If you learn them all, then you will find that many of them come up on the real test.

Yeah I have a bid on the auction site for the official DSA Motorcycle Theory test question dvd. That should help me for next time.

All I am prayig for ow is decent weather tomorrow, to be at the bike shop for 9am with waterproof jacket, boots, gloves and helmet. To take a lunch with me too as it will be a long day.

Well I did good on my CBT and was awarded the certificate :D

I have a 125 in the garage that I am gonna use, just need to get a set of L playe for it. What's the best way of getting a decent insurance quote ?

Phone everyone.
If you go to visordown.com and visit the forums, there is a spreadsheet floating around that has hundreds of companies and phone numbers.
The more legwork you put in, the cheaper the quote you'll get.
