I've spent the best part of this evening trying to figure out what is wrong with / causing the distorted sound coming from my brothers CD decks + mixer combo.
Set-up is:
Mixer: Vestax VMC-185XL
CD-R Decks (x2): Vestax CDR-07
Speakers (x2): KAM Soundpack 4
Amp: KAM DJ3 USB Power Amplifier
When using headphones directly connected to the mixer, it sounds clear but sound is only from 1 ear.
The connections are:
CD R Deck 1 Line out to Mixer Line 1 Input (stereo phono cable)
CD R Deck 2 Line out to Mixer Line 5 Input (stereo phono cable)
Via Mixer Headphone jack 2 to Amp Audio Input (1 headphone jack 2 coloured ends)
The speakers intermittently play distorted song - I say intermittently because 1 moment they are playing, next nothing - it appears that there is loose connections somewhere but I'm beat trying to find it.
I've connected speakers to another CD player - they work fine. I've changed the headphone jack to phono cable between mixer + amp and it still has the same problem - albeit a little clearer. Changed settings on mixer but makes no difference (I thought some setting was causing distortion).
Any ideas welcome,
Thanks
