Finally the new engine is getting into something that will look nice(hopefully look nice):p:D

The next Toyota Celica is to be built by Subaru, the Monday morning rumour mill has reported.

It has been reported that the replacement for the Celica will arrive next year in Japan and is a joint effort between the two car makers.

It is expected to come in two variants – a high-performance four-wheel drive GT-Four and a more sedate GT model.

Toyota is hoping to put the GT on the market in the US for just over £10,000.

It will feature a front- mounted, naturally aspirated 2.0 litre Subaru engine and rear-wheel drive.

The pricier GT-Four is understood to be getting the same 300bhp turbo four seen in the Japanese-spec Impreza STI.

Both cars could come in a coupe and three-dour hatch bodystyles.

Should be a beast:cool:

Why on earth do car companies keep calling their cars STI? Do they fail to realise that you're effectively saying "Hi, I've got the new Toyota Celica Chlamydia"

Actually they dont give a **** about what else it stands for. In the motor industry STI stands for Subaru Tecnica International and thats all they want to know.
And The Celica is possibly using a Subaru STI Engine so thats why it may be refered to the Celica STI until it getes its Propper name.

BTW Toyota also own 8% of Fuji Heavy Industies, If all goes well i wouldnt be suprised at all if they buy up more.

Oh they realise it, that's why the do it. If someone is moronic enough to buy and STI then they deserve to have one. :p

j/k

Because the cars are Sports cars, with Turbos and fuel Injection maybe?

Edit - and I am wrong as Zip's prior post proves. :D

The GT4 should be an interesting version, looks as though turbo jap nutter cars are on the way back in, maybe signalling toyotas return to WRC?

From the look of it Toyota have finally stopped with the Boring **** and gone mental again and used the beasty engines like the should have been doing in the first place:D

Im glad to see them bringing back there sports and power models. :)

And both variants are driving the proper wheels..

This should be a very interesting car to drive! And it's about time that Toyota re-joined the sports car ranks. There *was* a rumour about the MR2 returning to production, however it probably was just that...

Im Wondering If Toyota Dropped there sports lines for a couple years just to build up a new fleet and focus on Researching rather then building.

They ahve the new Supra and that V10 Lexus Blasting around test tracks as we speak aswell
