certain high st game selling chain to stop selling pc games :(

Couldn't care less, the game is a piece of **** and I want my Beer money back.

A high street shop would happily do this, but will Steam..?

Time will tell my pets, time will tell...

A high street shop won't let you do this, because BC2 is tied to an EA account, meaning once you use the CD key, it's useless. You can only return certain games which don't have activations like this, so please, stop it.

No great loss. High street stores usually have a terrible, overpriced selection anyway.

quoted for truth , i really only use high street stores as a very last resort,pre-order your big pc game releases from the many good online stores and its all gravy, they are usually a good few quid cheaper online too :)

oh and if irrc the high street store that sounds like "fame" stopped refunding on pc games many years ago !

I honestly cannot remember the last time I bought a game in a highstreet store. About 95% of my purchases nowadays are done through digital distribution with only an odd one or two games bought from online shops.

Even if I did buy my games in retail shops it wouldn't be a big deal since their selection tends to be rubbish anyway.

Surely it's easier for Steam to refund you than a High Street store?
Deactivate your copy of the game and recycle your key into the pool of available keys. They control your access to any given game, so it's not like you'll be able to play it once you get the refund. Of course, this is in an ideal world :)

As to the original post, the store in question might as well not bother selling PC games. My local store doesn't even have a display for the chart titles, just one double rack with the usual 3 for £15 tat. Unless I'm lucky enough to spot a bargain, it's online purchasing for me.

As long as the online shops keep selling PC games, I couldn't care less. I think I've bought 2 used 360 games from bricks and mortar in the last 5 years, it's a mug's game paying shop prices, or full steam prices for that matter.

Sounds like a great way to turn a good business model into a failing one. :p

its the store that were whining steam are taking all there sales the same store that in the late 90s was 80% pc titles then once the ps2 and xbox were released reduced pc games space to around 20%

When the next batch of consoles arrive, with massive storage space and every game title available via digital download; expect another toys out pram moment from certain High Street stores :)

A good thing about said store's website is the heavily reduced collector editions when clearing stock.

I have picked up Bioshock 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum pretty cheaply. Plus other compilations that have put download service prices to shame. So the need to free up warehouse space always brings some bargains along.

no doubt they go left behind didnt go into digital sales and if i owned shares in any of there shops i would sell them now

Cant say Im too bothered about retailers pulling out, I genuinely cant remember the last time I bought a PC game on the high street.
It is a shame however that PC gaming will lose what little presence it has on the high street in terms of the profile of the platform. Remember buying games with my mates when we were younger and checking out the PC games with their huge boxes and stunning screenshots was what got us into PC gaming.

Sorry mate but :

A : you purchased a game in a sale which you knew was a fps.

B : surley you read the reviews and see that it was a 9/10 game.

One of the few people ive heard calling bad company a piece of you know what, you sure your not trying to wind people up?

Good luck in getting your refund :)

I'm not surprised at this, let's be honest, PC games are just a small niche market now when compared to the consoles. As long as online shops keep selling them though I'll be happy, you get much better deals online anyway.

To be honest the original shop in question is in a fair bit of trouble after record profits only 3-4 years ago. Closing a lot of their stores too. There was an article in edge about it a few months back if i remember correctly. I wont miss them, Its never felt like a real gamers shop anyway. Got fall out new vegas there though as I was getting rid of the last of my xbox 360 games. Person behind the counter was telling me pc gaming is dead blah blah blah, that they were not selling pc games and all this rubbish. I pretty much couldnt care what he thought and glad his lame company was falling apart.
