I have created a number of 2Tb drives with the GUID partition type using Vista. I have since found out that they are not compatible with my media player if they have this partition type.

I am trying to change them from a GPT to a MBR partition styles using Windows Vista and XP. (XP will not allow me to do anything to them).

How do I change the type of partition in Vista? When I goto format, it does not allow me to change the partition type.

Finally, I am trying to set up a new drive with a MBR partition but when I go into DIsk Management, and try to initialise the disk, I select MBR but I get the error 'Not enough storage is available to process this command' Then the error message 'Logical Disk manager - The device is not ready'. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Backing up is not a problem but I wasn't sure how to repartition in Windows Vista. I tried reformatting, thinking that it would give me the option to reset the partition but it wouldn't let me.

I think you may have to delete all the partitions then re-initialise the disk in Disk Management by right clicking on the grey bit with the disk name rather than clicking in the white bar to the right.
