Cheap and Easy Component switching

Reet, i've got my Xbox and my Xbox360 to run into my TV, both over component at the moment, and i was thinking of a cheap and nasty way of having both plugged in by just using 3 sets of RCA splitters.

Both devices are never going to be on at the same time, is it going to work?
 
Could buy a component switcher device from auction site. These have one output and upto three inputs depending on device.

I have one of these and can recommend them, no loss in picture quality at all.
