As topic. :)

I'm looking to go on a holiday with a friend to Venice and we're looking for a cheap hotel located in the heart of Venice. Budget of around £400 each for the accommodation/flights. Unsure exactly how much that is as i have been browsing Expedia..however i'd like some suggestions as i may just book the flight and hotel seperately. :)

I recommend Boscolo Hotel Bellini, a cheap 4*, just next to Rialto and the train station, comes at about 70-80 pounds per night. Very nice hotel, beautiful entrance hall, rooms are very nice, had a great stay there. Breakfast is expensive though.

Mm, i looked at that one and although it looks very nice for the price, it's a shade too expensive and we really are trying to cut costs..it is quite expensive at the moment - season etc. :(

The cheapest hotel i found, situated in the heart of Venice, seems to be Tintoretto. £875 for 9 days.

hope you have a lot of spending money also , Venice is expensive! went there last year for a week.

i went about 6 years ago
booked hotel and flight separately
ryanair return £17 ex tax and hotel room 40pn
thought he hotel wasnt in centre of venice 5 minute boat trip to get to san marcos

check lastminute.com for hotel rooms used them for london recently can get some quite good deals
budget airline if poss to get there
(agree taxi fares in advance)

We went with a tour rep called Inghams , but as stated above you can get a cheap flight out and save that way. Best thing to do is get mags on venice and look up the hotels and contact them direct.

my mate sat at a cafe on St Marks and a beer and a coffee came to 30 Euro

What about for the area surrounding St Marks? Is ALL of Venice quite expensive? Trying to think up a budget also - spending money. €50 a day? /shrugs.

the areas surrounding are considerably cheaper but 50 Euro a day is an absolute non starter unless you live off takeaways and don't drink etc

Must be a few...cheaper places within Venice? Can't all be so expensive? :(

Theres a supermarket about halfway between Canereggio and Rialto. Or you can try surviving on 4€ sandwiches, but they taste like bird food and are likely to give you constipation :/

It's not that bad £££! Restaurants can be expensive, and most don't include extras/drinks/service charge in the menu prices. Be warned.

Eat from the stalls or small bakerys, they're very good. Calzones, pizza slices, croquets and the like. I ate like a king for nothing for 3 days in 2005 :) Drink wine instead of beer - much cheaper.
