cheap M3, whats the worst..

Worst drive back ever. Icy roads, broken stat, ice on the inside of the windscreen, so cold I couldn't even feel my feet. No traction control on the car. As you'd expect it needs some fettling but its not far from good, the basics are there
 
94m hellrot red. 3.0 5sp rebuilt engine by hrd racing (a team in a BMW championship I can't remember at the min). Nice black Vaders, sunflower wheels, 3.2brakes, newish pilotsports, polys on rear arms. Clutch at same time as engine.

Needs stat. Paint on rear arches. Correct play in steering. Thats all ive got on the list so far, I'm sure there will be more
 
After the insane drive back last night I couldn't doze off so did some google. Sticky throttle and steering will be a doddle, so will the stat.

There is almost no service history so I want to tackle diff mounts, front bushes and top mounts.

The previous nutter actually put new dampers from BMW on it, I was surprised how composed the ride was.

It does sideways really well, had a couple unexpected moments last night, I think I'm gonna like this
 
the aim this week, in an ideal world..

stat, water pump, fan clutch.
engine oil, gearbox oil, diff oil.

i want to take it up to manchester on friday, i have friday off work, i might squeeze in a brake fluid flush on friday morning before i leave.

i hope to collect a new boot lid on the way up north, i want to ditch the oe rear spoler and replace with a small m5 lip spoiler. im hoping the same place have a pair of oe headlights. beleive it or not, the cheap M3 had halo headlights!
 
Jesus, didn't realise pics were so important. Just imagine a red e36, thats a start. Ill get some up tonight but its hardly exciting.

As for price, £2.5k.

But its a fact of life, the rest of them, unless you pay for something thats been kept in a museum, will have the same problems or more. Ive got an engine with arp bolts thru it, mine won't be coming apart again.

Mine will have everything new, mine will be better than a moderately good one which you could pay a fortune for, and I can spec the best bits.

Ps 1500 is never going to happen. Engine is worth 1000 all day long. Seats are 500-750 and mine are nice. I think ive bought mine for its sum value in parts

I recon total costs are going to be 4k point something, incl paint, nearer 5 if I get the h&r kit for it
 
i didnt even see the ad for the 1500 one, if it had nice seats/wheels/rebuilt engine with arp bolt, then id be gutted

im going to keep the rear tints in the meantime, it could be a nice look, but im verging more on them going, but will keep them to see if they grow on me because once its gone its gone..

boot spoiler is going in place of a small M5 item ;)

when ive driven it more ill decide whether ill stick an H&R cup kit on, i dont like cars that are scared of the floor
 
sorry, im missing the punchline on that one, the whole thing is red. hellrot apparently

anyone know if its true that the early ones had alu doors etc?

not quite sure what thats all about, it doesnt smell of anything in there and no real sign of being smoked in either. ive quit smoking too recently so there is a chance itll stay like that!

once the paints done itll live under a cover when not in use, until the garage is built... but as you can tell from the pic, im "building" a house too, not just a car
