I've got to go to Leeds for a course on the 29th for a week. The venue is on Neville St, just south of the train station. Where is the cheapest place to park nearby? Is there any free parking within walking distance?

Not too familiar with the place unfortunately! :o

I used to park in a private car park, just off gower street, inside and out the way as I didn't like leaving it on the road all day while at work. I think it was like £4 or £5?

Other than something like that you could try getting on one of the side streets but it can get quite busy and some places have time restrictions eg only up to 2 hours which was no good me. :)

I'm going to be there 8am-6pm most days so 2 hour limits might be pushing it. :p I'm not bothered where I leave it as I drive a shed, just somewhere convenient and cheap. :)

If you dont mind walking about 10 minutes then there is a new car park that's £3 a day where the Tetleys brewery site used to be

There's an APCOA car park which is £3 a day past the bridge on Whitehall Road.

See the railway lines on the map going over Whitehall Road? They're on a bridge so you go under the bridge and the car park is an immediate left after the bridge, the left is not shown on the map. If you fire up Google Street view you can see the turning and there's a sign on the wall from when it was owned by a different company.

That's assuming you are travelling west :p

If you're coming from Manchester you might be much better off getting the train, especially if you're coming early morning as M62 can be a nightmare. Day returns on the train can be quite cheap. Although there's engineering works so you'd have to come from Manchester Victoria.

Also don't bring any red shirts, you might get stopped by Yorkshire Border Police :p

I'll echo the previous statement

The drive from Manchester to Leeds across the M62 is terrible at the best of times, least of all when there's probably roadworks for about 1/3 of it at the moment

Be prepared!

It's going to take me at least 2 and a half hours door to door by train, if the car takes significantly longer on Monday then I will take the train but I'll see how it goes.

There are places you can park for free but you will have to do a bit (5-10 minutes) of walking to get to what I would class as the centre

By south do you mean towards Hilton and Sovereign street? If so, no - there isn't any free parking around there.

If you venture off down water lane or maybe towards meadow road you will find some backstreets where you can park up for free. Not guaranteed to be safe, but then its not a carpark
