*****CHEAPEST 1.5TB HDD in the UK - Seagate 1.5TB LP HDD Only £44.99 Delivered!*****

I've put the drive into my readynas duo, and it seems to be ok with no errors. I understand that the 12 month warranty will be with OcUK and not Seagate, Gibbo can you confirm this?

I need to buy another one of these for my readynas but this has really put me off.

I was actually going to get a couple but have been put right off. :( Is all this true?

I have no reason to make this up. Perhaps they have a mixture from different places, I don't know, but perhaps Gibbo could explain. The anti-static bag that the drive was in was definitely not an original seagate bag as the way it was packaged was very amaturish. Perhaps I've been unlucky and I am the only customer to receive a used drive, can any one else confirm if the drive that you have purchased was new or used?

I hope this thread is still here when I wake up..

I can't see why not, it's genuine customer feedback, and hopefully a mistake or oversight on OcUK's part, it's not abusive or anything and it needs to be clarified what condition the drives are in, unused or used.

Surely if it were a clean pull it wouldn't have the Seagate anti-static bag? The fact that it was packaged in third-party packing doesn't really mean anything.

That it's been formatted isn't great, I guess, but do the power hours/cycles include any performed by the manufacturer prior to shipping, or would they be all OcUK? Is it significant that these were sold as clean pulls, where they were presumably tested in the machines they were pulled from, rather than used, which inspires thoughts of more long-term and extensive usage?

Gibbo, made a comment that the customer would not be able to tell the difference between a new drive and the 'clean pulls', the way the drive was packaged to me it was very obvious to me that it had been repackaged.

I've had many drives over the last 15 years and I have never had any that have had power on hours or power cycle counts. Also the number of hours and power cycle counts and the fact it's formatted iomega makes me think that in was in an external drive and has been used over several days/weeks for short intervals. That's my theory anyway. The only reason I can think that a drive would be pulled after it has been used is if it is a customer return.

To quote Gibbo "however the remainder of the warranty with the manufacturer will still stand"

I have checked the serial number of the drive on the Seagate website and these drives are OEM and do NOT have any manufacturers warranty.

The above comment and the comment about the drives being unused are very misleading, I'm very disappointed, 'If it's too good to be true', springs to mind on this deal. :(:(

Zaxxan

Very poor show indeed.

However when he said they are pulled from a machine. That immediately makes them `used` anyway so but from what you have said that should definately place them in the B Grade listings.

I'd agree with most of your other points, but this is just a pretty dumb contribution to an otherwise valid complaint. Saying there's so little difference between a clean pull and a new drive would in no way suggest it comes in original OEM packaging - it's been opened and built into a machine, then pulled out again. I can't understand why it's a surprise to you that it comes repacked.

It was a minor point I was trying to make, but as you say it was a 'dumb' contribution.

True, most of these drives that fail tend to do so in the first few weeks.
