Cheapest card that will do BF2 1080p maxed out?

2nd hand 4890 will do ya, I'm running one with 4gb of ram & a Q6600 & have played BF2 with it for years.
Started playing again tuther night & it is still active & there's a few No Grenades 64 man servers that are nothing short of Awesome.

Yeah I hear ya. Most fun I ever had playing an online game. When I looked to see if it was till active again I decided to bump up the graphics card I was looking at picking up for my new budget build.

Budget build is a Sandybridge Celery, so BF3 is out of the question!

No really I've not gamed for many a year and don't intend to get back into it - being at the cutting edge is too expensive.

The budget build is soley for net browsing and film watching. I originally decided to use the integrated graphics built into the Celeron, but decided to spend a few quid on a passive 5450. I then decided to go for the 6450, mainly because of the upgraded decoding abilities for video formats. Then I got an idea in my head of splurging on a mental rig and getting a 2500k cpu and a £200 graphics card. I then (thankfully) snapped out of the idea

Anyway I would like to try BF2 on my new 1080p monitor :) Its such an immense game its all I will ever need if I get the gaming bug.

So a 6570 should do it? I can pick one up new for £50.

What about a 6450?? I can get one for £30.

I would really like to play it a 1080p.

6450 is similar to the 5450, I dont think it'll really cut it at 1080p maxxed, especially with AA. Something midrange should be fine though :)

The midrange cards are MUCH more powerful than the bottom entry level ones which are really not designed for gaming tbh.

BF2? Wut? Really? No, no, seriously?
Is this revived post from 2006?
I think that there still being loads of servers up 24/7 all this time after release is testament to how much fun this game is.

You can't beat BF2 64 man infantry only No nade servers & now that everybody else has bailed to the recent titles the game is left to those who can play a team based game properly. Games I've had recently are awesome with loads of massive battles involving untold squads & with the no nade server everybody is right up close shooting the **** out of each other. :D

I remember playing BF2 on a geforce 6200 128MB, and it ran fairly well at low/med settings. Check the bay for second hand cards. something like a 8800GT or GTS will cope and should be bale to pick up very cheap.

You can pick up an 8800gt for about £25-30

Welcome to 2005! :D

Don't knock it. Great games never die! Can't see BF3 bettering it for pure fun.

I know OCUK used to have a server. Its not still going is it? 50 clicks was also a good one.

I was trolling mate. I think everyone bar a few misread it as BF3 lol!

I have to admit, I never played BF2 as hard as BC2 and now BF3. Did I miss out then? ;)

Also, I have to admit (but don't tell anyone else), I enjoyed BC2 more than BF3!

Enjoy :)
A 6670 is a decent step up if you can stretch that far, or obviously second hand higher level cards :)

After looking at all the options from AMD I think I'm going to go for the 6670.

It seems fast enough for my gaming needs and has the latest decoding UVD3 for my DVD's and (eventually) Blu Ray.

Hopefully 2nd hand £35.
