Cheapest way to get Gold Membership to Live

Hi Guys

May be a stupid question but i have seen posts that kind of mention cheaper ways to get Gold membership but nothing definitive, can anyone enlighten me on this subject? i'm curious more than anything as i have heard mention that you can pick up old xbox games with free membership for a year, is this the case? if so what do i need to be looking for when getting one of these games?

Yes, Original Xbox live starter kit codes will work fine with the Xbox 360 Live.

Just to confirm lol - can you use the old xbox live codes to upgrade a 360 silver account to gold? Just want to make sure I can keep my username etc.

Yes.

In your account settings you just enter the code and it'll upgrade it for you.
