cheapest way to get sky hd

My dad I wanted to upgrade to HD so I rang and said I was going to cancel as Virgin had offered a better deal - I got - free HD box with installation and 6 months half price on the HD subscription. He's got all mixes plus the sport pack.

that's a decent deal you got there
but how much a month?

I agree but what I am saying is if I rang up sky and said I want sky back at my address (but use my nan's address) so I get their engineer to come out and install my sky + hd box at her place

the moment the engineer leaves I take the hd box back to my house and use it
then ring up sky and cancel the subscription we got atm in the mrs's name :)

I see what you are saying, but there is no point, just take one out at your address. The only point on which i have no experience personally is if your surnames match. I have only taken out multiple subs in completely different names.

From what i've read on other forums and widely accross the tinternet is that they do check accross addresses so Jez's plans wouldn't work.

You are wrong, and yes it would. I think i have been more than clear on this point.

as long as you use a different bank account, it can be started in the same name. With all the offers for new customers at the moment I'm going to phone to cancel and my wife will start a new one. We'll just say we've split up or something. Don't this before without issue.

As an existing customer i rang up yesterday to upgrade to hd, the box is free but they wouldn't budge on letting me off with the £60 installation fee, i already have sky tv and multiroom, phone and broadband at over £70 a month.
seems you got to threaten to cancel to get any offers.

maddog, you should be able to opt out of installation if you dont need it. They can do a postal installation service where they simply courier you the box instead. Its a lot cheaper. I have been offered this with no suggestion on my part in the past.

While i knew that the address is not cross referenced, it is interesting to know that it is the funding source specifically. I wasnt sure if they checked the names too for a surname match.

unless you have 2 cables already installed and a multi-output lnb they will charge you...however we got free installation this week as we had moved. Also acquired another hd box which we don't need hd for, but thus gain a 320gig Sky+ box.

do u have a tv that doesn't have hd?

You sound like you work for Sky.
It is a fact that new customers get the best deals.
We've been with sky for 12 years yet I always seem to see offers on sites like quidco and hotukdeals which are so much better than what most existing Sky customers get.
see my point above about mobile phones....i dont work for sky at all haha, i just cant stand people who compain about the costs when they want premium services.

Have you ever been offered M and S vouchers?
yes on 3 occasions no less.

Half Price Sky Sports HD and HD Movies for a year?
6 months

Maybe you've had the Sky HD £10 pack knocked off your price too?
i had it knocked to £5 for 6 months yes.

I highly doubt you've had any of these and are probably paying closer to £80 a month. We can't all afford such lavish lifestyles!

i pay just under £60 for 3 mixes, hd, sky sports and espn....thats fine with me, because i know they are PREMIUM channels that come with a PREMIUM price tag and im not expecting something for nothing. i drop sky sports after feb like i do every year (when nfl/CF finished) and keep ESPN for lacrosse and college basketball, then pick sky sports back up come august.
