Cheapest way to insure a £100-200 car?

have to say your mad selling your civic for the volvo! :p
but it is absolutely financially making sense, just a great shame really :(

well i might get something a little more exclusive for the weekends and summer use (I have a test drive at the Morgan factory on this coming thursday of a morgan 4/4 but im not gonna post about it here because i can see people going mad).

I cant see much point using a £16k car to go 1 mile to work in and back so i might as well have a "beater" for work and a good car for weekend top down cruising.

I wasnt planning to buy the Volvo, but for £100, i couldnt resist. got camping planned for the summer in that volvo :D

I would read it, but that font hurts my eyes!! Whatever were you thinking :P

it keeps reverting to that in mozilla, dont know why :(

changing it now. All it is, is like a running diary of how much it costs me to run over a year or so. true banger style :D

how would they know if you drove it the most?

trust me if you mowed down 18 children and crippled them all for life they would investigate to the nth degree, they would prove quite conclusively with petrol receipts or whatever that you were committing insurance fraud, tell you the policy is invalid and lumber you with an $18million law suit

is it really worth, those of you here that do it (and i know a lot of you do) are just kidding yourselves, not only do you miss out on NCB but you risk ruining the rest of life.

dont be muppets

The insurance company will start asking around, checking up who drives the car the most with your neighbours etc, if the insurance company is faced with a huge payout they will do anything not to pay.

For 100 / 200 will the car actually get to the ring and back, it will take a beating round the track and i wouldn't fancy some funtastic 80's brake fade and chumptastic handling.

Its one of those things that unless your gonna do it propper and spend at least 1k on a car don't bother cause its just going to be a money pit.

Do insurance questions ever get dodgy about what you are going to be doing with the car when you ring them up to try and insure a car and tell them the value is about £100?

didnt with me. I just told them it was going to be used to get me the few miles each day to work and back.

I like that Volvo, would be interested to hear if it gets through the MOT ok but I guess rust wont be a problem actually since it never was on my 340. Got to love those heated seats :)

I got a good quote for insurance years ago because they let me have some no claims based on my previously driving as a named driver, only a few will be this generous.

You might as well state car value as 1k since it wont affect the premium imo and as you've found out, its the running, parts and labour cost which is the real value. They'll give you whatever the market value is if it comes to it

Ah, that Volvo is a beaut :)

I am buying a car in about 3 months if I pass my practical and if I can grab a cheapy car that will get me the 10-20 miles to either of my work places and something I can socialise with, that would be great :D
