This is my spec, I don't really overclock and given I'm going from an old athlon and a 9800pro I hope I wont need to

Asrock ConroeXFire-eSATA2 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £49.99 (£58.74)
Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £105.99 (£124.54)
Crucial 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C5 Dual Channel Kit (CT2KIT12864AA667) £139.99 (£164.49)
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) £59.99 (£70.49)
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 XT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £139.99 (£164.49)
Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB 2500KS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM £42.99 (£50.51)

Total £633.25 + p&p

I already have a case, OS and optical drives but I need the rest

Is anything on here known to be incompatible or just not very good?
I'm also kind of unsure about the HDD, I'm tempted by the quiet Samsung ones for the same price but WD have the reputation. Would it be a risk to go for Samsung?

WD only has a stronger rep in HDD. Samsung in general is a much more reputable company. If you want, you can go for the samsung ones, or the seagate 7.10

Welcome to the forums, it all looks good and since you say you won't be overclocking the fact that the motherboard isn't any good for that doesn't matter much. As Lolcb says Samsung are a perfectly decent brand of hard drive so if you want to go for them feel free to. :)
