Hi! Finally we're joining the 21st century! We need to share BB over 3 PCs wirelessly, all to be on XP, a PIII, a Celeron 700MHz, and my AMD64 Beastie.

So I've dug about as usual, and I think this kit will fit the bill. The house is a largeish old stone typey, so I hope the signal strength will be ok:

Belkin 54Mpbs Wireless ADSL Modem/Router (F5D7632UK4) (NW-013-BE) £64.57
Belkin F5D7000UK 802.11g Wireless PCI Adapter (NW-007-BE) £19.62 X3 = £58.86
ADSL Filter (Splitter) £1.12 X2 = £2.24

------------------
£125.67
------------------
£64.33 Left over

As it says there, I've got £64.33 left over from our max budget, so if that could be better spent than saved say so! I'm keen to stay with all one manafacturer BTW. We have 2 telephones in the house too, hence the microfilters. Is that all I need?
TIA, Cheers!

Ugh, Belkin. I'd go for a Netgear DG834G over some piece of Belkin rubbish.

Correct about the filters, you need one for each telephone.

I used to have a Belkin F5D7000 wireless PCI adaptor and it was the worst piece of kit that I've ever owned. Wireless would randomly dropout, it wouldnt find the network and was just truly awful, had two other pcs with linksys adaptors and these were on all the time so it was clearly a problem with the Belkin. AVOID.

EDIT - Sorry posted at the same time. OK, so which brand is the best I can get my greasy hands on?

Not from my personal experience in the sense that I've never bought Belkin rubbish, but I've had to try to get it working plenty of times for other people.

You'll no doubt find some people who say their Belkin kit is great, but I wouldn't waste my money on it.

I love it when people ask for the 'best' brand. Do you really mean that? If you do, head over to cisco.com and have a look.

Like I said, Netgear DG834G's are pretty solid (I await the people who have had problems with theirs, but in my experience they're fine).

Lol I don't think Dad would like that :p

I don't see a DG834G in OCUK's shoppe, do you mean the Netgear DG834PN? If so, buying one of those I can't afford the Netgear WPN311 Rangemax's to go with it, but Netgear WG311T 108Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter's I could, £1 over budget:

Netgear DG834PN 108Mbps Rangemax Wireless ADSL2 Modem/Router/Switch/Firewall (NW-083-NG) £76.96
Netgear WG311T 108Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter £37.54 X3 = £112.62
ADSL Filter (Splitter) £1.12 X2 = £2.24

------------------
£191.82
------------------
£1.82 over

Seems OcUK's done away with the DG834G. :(

Lol I don't think Dad would like that

So, like burbleflop said, quantify "the best". Presumably you mean best within your budget of £190, including wireless card and microfilters.

I've no idea what the DG834PN is like as I've never used one, nor do I know anyone who has. In theory it is has ADSL chipset from DG834GT with the wireless chipset of the WPN824, in which case the wireless is pretty good, but the ADSL side of things is quite flakey.
