Chicago

Holy thread revival.

So I'm going. Currently midway through a flight from Sydney to London, home for a couple of months then onto Chicago for 1+ yrs. I hope you're all correct as I still haven't been there but really looking forward to seeing a new place, meeting new people (and buying a new car :D).

Thanks!

My colleague was posted out to Chicago to set up the US arm of our company. Best thing he could have done. The company is doing fantastically well and he loves his life out there, much more than he did in London. As agreed, it will be bitterly cold in Winter but right now it's pleasant enough.

Their airport is massive, its windy, Lake Michigan is big, Milwaukee is north and thats about as much as I know.

Good luck chuck.

Also watch the ending of Love Actually to see what happens when brits go over to America...:p

Our other main offices are in Chicago, and I'm heading out there for the first time in a couple of weeks. Heard lots of good things so looking forward to it.

Am staying downtown, just around the corner from House of Blues :)

I love Chicago, one of my favourite US cities, check out a Bears/Bulls/Blackhawks game if there's one on whilst you're there. The tailgate parties at the Bears games are crazy.

There are loads of great places to eat, for steak try the 75 day aged steak at David Burke's Primehouse @ The James Hotel its aged onsite and they will give you a tour of the dry aging room. For crab Shaws is great and has live blues bands playing in the bar. High end try Moto or Naha, both excellent.

Tourist stuff, there's the Willis tower, Hancock observatory, Shredd Aquarium, Natural history museum, Navy Pier, River boat trip, shopping down Michigan Avenue.

Have fun :)
