I still think the mother could have made a better effort to prevent her son from buying whatever he wishes. And also as plenty of people have said... surely every month payments from xbox purchases will be on her statement. She should have kept a better eye on them.

I never had to enter CC details when setting my xbox live account up, and the kid is 11, he should know better (even if he is stupid)

She says partially to blame, so she's admitting it's also her fault, she's not out for compo.. nor admonishing herself, but don't let that stop people jumping to conclusions..
