Childrens first person shooters?

Games provide a good level of learning in the right scenario as well as an investment/reward method that keeps people feeling that sense of accomplishment we strive for. Children have that exact same mentality...

This, in my never humble opinion, is one of the most dangerous aspects of games for children or adults. It's very, very easy to use games to give you that sense of progression that you know deep down you should really be getting from real life stuff. I've done it myself for years, let some mmo or other hit the 'achievement' reward centre in my brain, rather than actually going out and achieving something for real.

I think it takes a certain personality type to be susceptible, but I don't think it's that uncommon either.

^ This.

My daughter is 3 1/2 and loves Minecraft. Put it on Peaceful mode - no aggressive mobs, just familiar farm yard animals that do react to the player in limited and entertaining ways. My daughter loves sheep shearing and throwing eggs :D The only problem is that she needs to use two hands to move and jump out of the holes she digs heheh.

Just to add to this he learns lots from it.
He chats away to his sister 3 1/2 while they are playing team work one on keyboard other on mouse !
Things like theres cactus don't touch it as it takes love hearts away & hurts you.
Lava don't fall in you will lose your stuff.
Fire don't get to close as it will burn you & take hearts away.
Mind the hole we will get stuck if we fall in.
Crocodile stay away from the crocodile they bite <<< very useful this one as you never know when you might bump in to a crocodile on the way home from school.
Water don't go in the water we will drown & lose our stuff.
All this & he does not even know that he can make stuff yet.
I did make him some torches & off he went in to a cave.

and Taziir about the getting stuck in holes yup I get that all the time daddy can you get us out please !

They play every other day for 20 mins 10 mins each in blocks of 5 mins.

Luckly if I do play on the PC in the day time it's iRacing so no shooting ;) Kids have ago at that but they always want to run over the stig (man in the pits) not sure if that's a good thing :D

Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault ?

War time i know but it isn't very violent

what about g-mod , spawn loads of non violent stuff like props, would be loads of fun using the physics gun, balloon spawner, paint gun etc.

I started off on Doom around that age :)

+1

What about South Park? I know that was for the N64 but never know you might have one lying about? Come to think about it the language in that is bad so ignore me.
