Chinese Takeaway food... suggestions?

my personal favourites :

Chicken in Lemon Sauce
Beef in Black Bean Sauce
Crispy Salt And Pepper Chicken
Sweent and Sour Chicken (cantonese style, ie chicken separate)

But we have tons of chinese take aways round us, all of which are rubbish.

There is one however, that make stuff that is to die for. They close on tuesdays, and they don't deliver. They don't drop leaflets through doors, they don't advertise

But on a friday and saturday night they are always packed. They are that good, that despite appearing seemingly unhelpful and low profile, they pack the place out.

You need to find a take away like that.

Sounds like my dad's place...when it gets so busy i even put the phone on the hook so it won't ring, since im too busy serving people in the shop and no time to answer the phone so the constant ringing just annoys me.

My dad cooks everything from fresh, takes bloody ages compare to other takeaways I've tried but it's good, and the customers know 45min wait is expected on a busy night now, and they know it's best to call in advance, early and order it for later.

Do NOT have prawn crackers.

Personal faves though are:
Lemon Chicken (if done in cornflour and egg)
Sweet and Sour chicken cantonese style
crispy chilli chicken/beef
crispy salt and pepper chicken

If im honest try the special fired rice and some curry sauce or sweet and sour, if your not sure the lemon chicken is always a safe bet. but if chinese aint for you its not for you try indian but at least you tried. im sure you can get recommendations from your friends which chinese is the best around your area :-)

I think you need to be a bit more specific about what you mean. "Chinese" food isn't completely alien to the other types of food available, and is essentially comprised of the same ingredients as many other types of food.

no other food type has cats in it?

Get some REAL chinese! Some spicy tofu, dandan noodles, nice beijing style dumplings (baozi) or some spicey beef noodles. I'm sure you must live somewhere near a Sichuan restaurant. And arknor, we don't eat cat? so don't stereotype?

Our Chinese takeaway is superb.

I'm not very adventurous when it comes to ma fuds so I normally stick with one of these:
- Char Sui and Chicken Fried Rice
- Char Sui and Chicken Chow Mein
- Sweet and sour (pork or chicken)

+ Prawn Crackers.

Omnomnom.

I think all takeaway food in this country is dumbed down pap, probably the reason why the OP hasn't found the right combination.

I remember having Thai and Chinese food in Australia and the taste was sensational, something I put down to the cosmopolitan nature of Sydney.

As someone else suggested, best to go to a (good) restaurant and start from there. ;)

Why bother if its all dumbed down pap?
