Chipset fan not spinning on ABIT NF7-S V2

Hi all,

Had the side off my system today and noticed that the fan on the
"nforce2 ultra 400" chipset on my ABIT NF7-S V2 was not spinning.

Hope I've got this right - it's the fan with "ABIT" written on it
between the CPU and the AGP slot.

There is a wire coming from it that is plugged into the motherboard.

Any ideas why it is not spinning?

Thanks,

Paul.

It will more than likely be clogged up with dust.
Either switch PC off and get your hoover in there, of buy a passively cooled heatsink
like the Zalman ZM-NB47J Northbridge Cooler (SY-007-ZA)

that happend to my nf7 v2 befor, its all the dust & muc .theres 2 little screws on top of the silver top undo them take the top off & clean the dust out with something , a cotton bud can help .

Yeah, if its not clogged, its failed. The chipset fan on NF7s is pretty crappy in terms of lifespan. If you want something similar to replace it, Vantec do some very similar circular chipset coolers.

thank the gods its stopped its whining.noticable drop in noise?I had my nf7 over clocked and the chipset fan plug off.it worked fine passive.I recommend it for most boards with cheap coolers.only to put it on if absolutely know its needed. Also a better spread of silicon could be in order.
