Chivalry: Medieval Warfare - Fps/hand to hand combat sim ( INDIE )

Got a proper blast on this over the weekend now that my new laptop has arrived and am LOVING IT. Can't stop laughing my head off as you and your teammates run into battle, spamming the X key. :D

I downloaded the Dedicated server for Chivalry from steam tools last night but I can't find a way of joining it, on the page with the server lists I can't see an option for joining an IP address, anyone know if its a console command or something?

Anyone else noticed that when you switch to the 3rd person views, aside from the view that puts you right above the characters head, that nothing lands directly centre of the crosshair.

Noticed this with the archer especially, as well as the throwing items. For melee it's less of an issue as the swing normally still gets them!

It's frustrating as I love playing the archer, but hate having to be in first person to make the most accurate shots.

I find it fun and annoying all the same time, it feels like sometimes there's far too much luck and spam involved. The shield often doesn't work properly and I often have issues where I simply cannot swing as fast as my opponent...

I also don't like how I can run up behind a solider who is fighting, swing at their head and they somehow keep blocking my hits even though I'm behind them. This is a regular occurrence.

Perhaps the biggest annoyances is the 'crash avoidance system' whereby you bounce off friendly soldiers and generally get stuck on walls and rocks, it's all a bit clunky.

You still have to use the shield like a block, in that you have to aim it a bit, and fast players can get around it. The bigger shields are more effective, but slow you down a bit.

I agree on that the pathfinding needs a bit of smoothing out in places.

I realise that but sometimes it just seems to not work.

It might be due to the opponents latency. I have noticed that when attacking someone with a high(er) ping it's much harder, as if the net code is compensating for them.

I'm either top of the pops with the highest kills are somewhere low down with ridiculous assists, yesterday in one round I had 2 kills and 44 assists...!

I'm having similar luck seems every time I get into a fight I do all the work then someone runs up behind & steals the kill, I'm not moaning it's a brutal game but wish they would count assists toward the unlocks say 3 assists count as a kill or something along those lines, I just know on some weapons its going to be a knightmare to unlock them.

I had some really great games last night, playing with a team who actually use team work makes such a huge difference, before I've always found that the TO maps tend to favor the defenders but last night we steam rolled right through most matches, I even managed to kill the King! something I've only seen done once before, it was excellent, we all attacked in waves, waiting for a large groups to form at spawn before advancing, using knights & Men at arms as a front line with vanguards & archers backing them up was very effective, overwhelming most opponents easily, to be fair I don't think the opposition was particularly good with lots of them charging in alone or in pairs, but it changed my opinion of the maps which I now think are quite well balanced.

Such a fun game but needs more maps and objectives, great base to work on. Just need to keep that sweet spot of not over complicating it.

It reminds me of old school CS in some ways, that's probably why I can't play more than hour before I get too stressed :)

I actually had a good run last night, 44 kills with about 16 deaths.

I've taken to using the Knight with a Katana (looks like one) and small shield. Fast and deadly.

Still playing & still enjoying it, hoping we get some news of some DLC soonish as I think it could do with some new maps/game modes but a great game.

Sweet. I'm still playing. The KotH mode is a bit blah, as you end up getting TKd by your mates swinging at the mash of people on the platform, but it has it's good bits. I've now unlocked all the knight and vanguard stuff, and I'm forcing myself to play archer. It's sinfully boring and I end up stabbing people in the eye more often than I hit them with arrows.

Oh yeah, I bought it as well a while ago and been playing religiously great fun! Too bad I suck at it :p

Love being an archer, shooting vanguards and knights in the face when they are about to reach you than spam Z44 :D

Also is it me or vanguard is OP: fast, longest reach, great damage etc :o
