Interesting, so my fav combo of zweihander and war axe is a potent one!
I switch up my selection depending on the map & if I'm attacking or defending between Vanguard with the zweihander, mace & throwing axes or a Knight with the sword of war, morning star & the kite shield though I think the knight is probably the one I lean more towards as it gives some protection against archers & I'd say was the better rounded class for a beginner.
Agreed, if there are loads of archers I go knight for the kite shield. I'm trying to mix it up a bit though. I usually play 3rd person over the shoulder, so going for projectiles classes is always tough because I'm not used to playing 1st person. I figure I need to be good with both though, and I'm getting a bit better. 3rd person is way better though.
I find that quite interesting, I only ever switch to 3rd person when using the shield as in 1st person it restricts too much of my view, Its was the fact that this game had 1st person that I chose it over war of the roses.
3rd person gives you a much better view of what's happening around you so you don't get stabbed from out of your FOV as often. It's a bit harder to block accurately in a few situations, but usually you can see the wind-up coming miles away and plan your attacks better. Also, I find 1st person a bit disorienting because you're always spinning around looking for side attacks while fighting. I enjoy it, but only in short sessions. I own hard in 3rd, but I'm only mediocre in 1st, so I just use it for archer/crossbow (but not javelin because I stab more than I throw). Now that I think about it, why doesn't 3rd person archer zoom in to 1st when you aim like in WotR? That would be a good solution to the ridiculous off-centre aim problem.
It is the most fun I've had in a multiplayer game this year! charging across the battlefield with a group all screaming warcrys is very liberating especially when that charge ends with me looping off some Agatha archers head!
I've also heard we may get some new maps soonish with a siege tower possibly being deployed which sounds awesome though my source is not 100%.
I know! I was half awake in bed this morning at 4am, drugged up on painkillers and decided to buy it on my phone (steam app... Oh how much my bank hates you). Log in this morning, download it, play it and wow! Just fun!

I use overhead attack a lot too, wait til you unlock the messer sword on knight, it's brutal with the overheads
my favourite weapon with the way I like to playTry to charge in a group as you will get killed quickly on you're own.
get used to the timings of you're swings & the range with each weapon you use as knowing you're weapon will be a big help in a duel.
When Blocking (without a shield) try to center on you're opponents weapon as if you don't the block is not going to do much.
Be aware of you're surroundings try not to end up with you're back to a cliff edge because a kick or shield bash cannot be blocked & will send you over the edge to your death.
Learn the objectives from both sides & where the spawn points are.
If the enemy team is fielding lots of archers take a shield.
Really good fun game. Never gets boring bludgeoning heads off with the grand mace. Im not very good so what i do is go round behind enemies so i can get a free hit in. If i get head its 1 hit kill with grand mace.
Blocking is still hit n miss. Reason being coz lag gets in the way so you have blocked fine but because of lag you die anyway.
Its hard if you are outnumbered because they flank you straight away...and you cant run because they can always get a hit in at least.

Based on kills with each weapon, I think.
Just got this yesterday and am enjoying it, but for some reason the graphics aren't as good as the videos I have watched. I have everything maxed out and I get like 70-100 fps but for some reason the textures look a little washed out.

Guys do you get random graphical artefacts in this game at all?
Am on a 7970 Lightning under water (temps never go above 37c) with latest 12.11 drivers @ stock.

not sure if this is an issue with my router but a few seconds after joining a server the whole thing just times out. This happend on 6, yes 6 consecutive servers! i then gave up.
Poeple run on the spot and everyone on the server disconnects (confirmed by people i was on skype with who were in the same game)
