How does it compare to the Samsung S27A850TS? Are they the same panel?

Different panels, these newer Samsungs have quicker response panel, better for gaming at the expense of colour accuracy I believe, but you'd be better of asking in monitor forum.

Also, I don't suppose if you know if the MSI R9 290X Gaming Edition 4GB GPU has a 1.2 displayport port? I can't find any information on it anywhere (not even MSI's website).

Not sure on our shipping, but we use DPD so same as anyone using them, probably Monday/Tuesday for delivery.
