A type of photography I really like is Church and Cathedral photography, So i thought of making this thread so people can share theirs. It doesn't matter if it's HDR, single exposure, handheld or tripod but i'd love to see your work. Perphaps we can even share advice?

I'll start it off :D

Thats nice!

How odd though, that almost exact same floor is used in St nicholas and wade, i'll post it soon :D

QUESTION : Although i do a lot of HDR with my church and Cathedral's what's the best way to expose inside these buildings?. I always find the windows too bright or the lighting extremely bad and not what I saw through my eye.

Do you expose for the windows or the walls?

expose on the window frame

That's new to me, thanks :D

If you could use that image again as a temporary basis, could you draw a circle on ms paint whereabouts the camera would be pointed at for exposure?

I wish i had your talent in church photography :(

Though going by how sharp and detailed it is i bet the lens helps a lot!

Yeah all the 50mm shots are wide open at f1.4, this is the Sigma 50mm f1.4 which I picked up for £220 second hand so not too expensive. Others are with the Tamron 17-35 f2.8-4 which is an old film lens! These can be found for around £180-200. I did use a 1Ds2 as well which is rather nice :)

Nice!, I'm trying to replace my Kit lens, it's crap!. But i've only got up to £200 to spend, can't find the right lens at all :(:(

Yes, very difficult to get a shot because the light was so bad in there. It was taken with a Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens as well. Next time I go I might pursuade the Vicar to let me use a tripod, he owes me a favour since I fixed his Computer a few years back :)

I always use tripods in churches and cathedrals...

Thankyou everyone for showing an interest in the thread and showing off your photo's, would like to see more though!.

How would you have improved this shot?, any tips for re-processing?

I can go back but I very much want to improve my church photography!

Bought it over on the TP forum a while back. I didn't realise it was a good price at the time. I'm sure I've seen them around since for that price. I wish I could afford the £1300 a 70-200L mkII looks to be going for at the moment!

Hey Rojin ordered this today (Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 XR Di II LD Asp Canon Mount Lens) for my Digital Rebel XTI £257 from the bay not Hong Kong! with 1 year warranty from the supplier :D

Hope it's a step up from my 18-55mm efs Is
