Church, Cathedral Photography - Thread

Most of them are York Minster, 17-40 I guess. The ghostly looking one is near Fontainebleau in France, 24-70 on a tripod with a 30 second or so exposure. Top one is Notre Dame with a 70-200.

Nice!! 17-40, I'm getting a 17-50 f/2.8 in the post in the next few weeks :D

Your HDR shots are excellent btw.

Thanks but they could be so much better :(

Something is wrong with my kit lens and i'm glad i'm getting rid of it!

I used to take sharp photo's from front to back between F8 and F11, but now it get's consideribly more blurry the further away you get. And also the quality of the HDR's are way down on what i'm used to!. I think my Kit lens has had it, Even in my normal photo's i'm constantly having to add more and more sharpness

The green/purple fringing is really getting to me though.
I don't even know how to make Lightroom get rid of it.

First thing to try would be the easy way. When in Develop, go to 'Lens Corrections' and select 'Enable Profile Corrections'. Lightroom should detect the lens and auto select the profile for it (the list is pretty big so unless it's a fairly obsecure one, your lens should be there). This is good for where CA is commonly found on a particular lens (as per the design). Can also help with things like Vignetting on wide angle lens as well

If it doesn't fix it or your lens is not on the list, under Lens Corrections select 'Manual' at the top and adjust the sliders under 'Chromatic Aberration'.

Went to St. Giles Catholic Church, Cheadle, Staffordshire today.

For those that don't know about this Church, it was designed by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin and financed by John Talbot, the 16th Earl of Shrewsbury - money was no object and Pugin was told to create a Church that "would have no rival".

Pugin did just that - no surface of the Church is undecorated. Hopefully my shots have done it some justice.
