Was going to go to Manchester tomorrow night to see the new Harry Potter. Wanted to see the IMAX version, went to book tickets online and it looks like they have sold out! :(

Surely they keep some tickets for people who actually pop into the cinema though? If I went early tomorrow think I would get in?

I'd imagine that cinemas only ever sell around 80-90% of the seats in each screen at a max, to allow people to sit in their respective groups. That doesn't mean you'll be able to buy a ticket though... what it does mean, however is that if you bought a ticket for another film at around the same time, you could get confused and end up in the Harry Potter screen where you might find a spare seat.

Potter on release night?? You'd probably needed to book months in advance.

Just checked my local Odeon and I could still book tickets for tonight if I wanted to.

EDIT - Can even get tickets for the Manchester IMAX either tonight or tomorrow (23:30 showing though :p)

Some showings are obviously going to be more popular than others.
We went last night to our local Cineworld and went to see it in the Deluxe screen.
However I did book tickets about three weeks ago within about an hour of them going onsale online.

You could still go see Harry Potter last night without booking in advance, but the popular showing times (Before 9:00pm) and the Deluxe screens had aparently been sold out during advanced sales.

Has anyone noticed at Odeon the new Premier Seating that's been introduced?!

For a couple of quid extra you get to sit in a slightly comfier seat and have a good view of the screen... What a RIP OFF!

So many people can't be bothered with paying £15 for 2 people to see a film in premier seating that no one ever buys the seats so it's a total waste of time. Just get there 15 mins before the start of the film and you get a great seat anyway. What makes me laugh is the poxy spotty 16 year old cinema worker who guards the seats to make sure no one sits in them unless you've paid the extra dosh!

Not a chance, why would any money grabbing business such as a cinema risk losing sales when they could sell 100% in advance?
