claiming against the council for a smashed wheel

I knew of someone who rode down a pothole on a bicycle, buckling both rims - wrote a letter to the council and had both wheels replaced f.o.c!

There is a chance that the council will pay up. So not to try is stupid. Even if you don't get anything out of them I'll bet the hole gets filled in sharpish.

I feel for the OP. The roads in Suffolk are full of pot holes. I have to dodge them every day on my commute which consists of lots of b-roads. Last summer they resurfaced some roads but didn't raise the drain covers. So some of these roads are even full of a "man made pot holes" which are literally 5cm deep with a recessed drain cover at the bottom... it's shocking really that council's are allowed to do this.

Also this winter has been particularly bad and has made the roads even worse. Two gigantic pot holes have opened up on my route, one on a fast bend on a NSL road. It is an accident waiting to happen. Could easily rip someones tyre off due to the angle of most people's wheels when taking the bend.

I have reported them via the online web thing but can't imagine they will get fixed any time soon :(
