Hi all,
Now I know ClarkConnect is just a Linux distro with bits and bobs bolted on, but it looks like its ease of setup and use would be ideal for some commercial projects I have in mind.

Are there any open source, free for commercial use, distro's that have the same features wrapped up with a similarly nice interface?

Cheers,
Matt

CentOS might be worth a look.

I must admit to using debian and/or ubuntu for most of my linux server installs these days, apt makes it just too easy to install just the stuff thats needed.

I would say it depends on your ability to use Linux. For me as a beginner I would probably just about do everything clark connect does with Ubuntu. But would probably use Clarkconnect as it's nice and easy to manage.

any open source (GPL) project is by definition free for comercial use. of course there might well be a non free extension to it that isn't

you could use smoothwall free edition (whatever that's called nowadays)
or the free thing that was forked from it a while back. Smoothwall express rings a bell

edit IPCop is the thingy that you need... http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=40604
