Can anyone explain to me what exactly a Class 1 & Class 2 driver is please, i've tried finding out via google but can't seem to find any clear description of what exactly it is.

Thanks

cat c drivers i think, 7.5 ton is class 1 i think then class 2 is artics, i may be wrong, infact it wouldn't suprise me if i was but in some job ads i've seen class 1 licence required and it's to drive a 7.5 ton truck.

Class 1 is artics (new class c+e), class 2 is anything not including a heavy trailer (new class c)
7.5 ton is class c1

The new classes are explained better here.

Bah! beaten to it!

Class C is indeed anything not pulling a heavy trailer, but, must not carry passengers.

You can drive a bus on an HGV licence, but not for hire / reward.

As for what a class 1 drive is, well I hope this helps.....

great thanks all, I was'nt sure as i've seen it say class 1 / 2 and then saying also HGV in same sentance but the way it was worded was as if they was all different types.

so the biggest thing you are allowed to drive on a normal B driving licence is a vehicle which is less than 3.5 ton's so a transit van ?
