Hey chaps

I'm looking for a simple piece of classical music in public domain to accompany my final year film production at university.

It's to accompany someone being sentence to jail for a very long time.

I'd like a slow, emotional, simple song in a minor key!

Please do your best!

Would help if we could see the film to be perfectly honest, but off the top of my head? The ubiquitous "Air on a G string" probably.

Film hasn't been shot yet. To give you a better idea the music will play over a black screen and a voicover saying

how do you find the defendant etc....

Air on a G string is way too major sounding imo but thanks for the suggestion.

The first movement of Moonlight Sonata is probably the most obvious choice, if you can find a really harrowing version. This one is pretty good.

And the third movement I'm just going to link to because its just awesome beyond belief:

Excerpt from Vaughan Williams' Fantasy on a Theme by Thomas Tallis perhaps?
Brahms Tragic Overture?
Chaconne by Vitali?
Valse Triste by Sibelius?
Gluck's Orpheo ed Euridice?
Bachs Es Ist vollbracht (from the Matthew Passion), or 'Ich habe Genug', or Sonata for violin #1 in G minor?
Brunnhilde's Immolation from Gotterdammerung (Wagner)?
Satie's Gymnopedie no. 3?

Do you want purely orchestral music or not?

Try the 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance' soundtrack - it's based on variations on Vivaldi's stuff. I'm sure the entire soundtrack was a free download from the official website at one point. (although not copyright free :o)
