I have a small stain on a silk tie that I need to clean off before tomorrow. What's the easiest way to do it at home? Small amount of water and washing powder or does it need to be properly dry cleaned?

Most things I've ever got on a silk tie came off with cold water and a bar of unscented soap. Dampen area slightly, rub soap on, rub surface of tie against itself to get some suds up, rinse. Repeat if necessary. Not a certain method by any means but one of the least likely to do damage.

Take a soft paper towel and put a very small amount of stain remover on the towel and then dab it gently onto the stain. Then use the paper towel to gently blot the stain.

Should never really use water on a silk tie
