if it's gone through your mattress (which is most likely the case as he was drinking) there will be nothing you can do to get it clean and will need a new one. whatever you do use on your carpets don't use vanish or 1001 as you'll end up bleaching it leaving a nice big stain.

The cleaners at work pour coca cola onto vomit stains, let it stand for a bit then wipe it all up. Never tried it myself but they all do it.

clean it up the best u can then turn the matress over (if its that type).

If he's still alive, he should pay for a new mattress or professional cleaning. If he died on it, I wouldn't bother cleaning it.

Similar thing happened when I had some friends round a while back, get some of the powerful carpet cleaning stuff and apply it generously. Smell wasn't the problem for me, it was the murky colour
