Clio 197's

Enjoyment? Perhaps not, but the 197 is a much more complete car the the 1*2.

I guess. It's just not the kind of car I'd spend that sort of money on. For me a little hot hatch is about having fun, throwing it around and going fast for a small amount of money.

My advice time and It's simples. Sell the car and buy a cheap banger. Free up 3k plus and have car that isn't depreciating or a car you arnt paying interest on to dealer.

Spaz. Where abouts In beds are you. Email if preffered. Im literally round the corner from autodrome, need a mini ocuk track meet, especially as the teg is roadworthy and tracking is on the horizon.

Taking on a mortgage and a large amount of finance at the same time is a bad idea. When you come to remortage 2 years down the line you'll be ******.

I could afford the payments it just depends on whats more important having a nice or an old banger and being better off.

I put a lot of thought into it and had a sneaky look at a facelift Clio's interior over the weekend and its not as if I was definitely getting one anyway but i've decided i'll end up in an old Civic for about £1500 and just drive a paid for car that I can service myself and drive into the ground i'll be much better off that way and I know them inside out, just wont be as quick or as nice to look at but i'll have more money for other more important things, like my PC

Theres advantages and disadvantages to both but after much thought owning an older car will be cheaper, I thought buying a Renault from a main dealer with a years warranty would be a good idea because if if anything goes wrong its under warranty and i'll just have a monthly payment but the running costs of an old Civic are a lot cheaper and as i've owned a fair few of them and post a lot on the owners clubs I also know where to get cheap parts and I can do a fair bit of DIY, only down side is I get tempted to mod, they are like lego for grown ups

I'll need the money from Corolla to put toward a flat deposit, i'll buy a car for £1500 insure it and park it on the street whilst I sell the Corolla, it will free up a fair amount of cash, the old Civic will be paid for and I get to enjoy the Corolla until then which should be sometime in the summer

I have an albi blue 197 now.. i had a 1.2 16v 2002 Clio while I was at uni which got wrote off as someone crashed into me, so took the opportunity to upgrade to an RS Clio as I had always wanted one.

I originally looked at 1*2's but in the end paid the extra at an auction and got my current car, it has 20k miles on and is a 56 plate.

I must say it absolutely eats fuel, I earn some money but not loads and if I had to commute anywhere it would kill me, it’s currently sitting at about 27mpg, the economy is supposedly much better in the 1*2's and in hindsight I think I would have been better purchasing a 182 Trophy that I saw in another auction and spending some money on that because I would have been just as happy.

I love the looks and the noise and that people look at it if they know about cars and that I hardly ever see another one.. I wish I had the money to spend on a Cup Spoiler, F1 Side skirts and splitter.

I recently got the steering wheel replaced 50/50 by Renault as it had quite a bit of wear on it for 20k miles, managed to convince them to change it for a Clio 200 one with the yellow band as well.

When I got it I changed the Oil, Oil Filter, Air Filer and Two tires for Continentals.. The rear Disks were borderline and now need changing.

It just gets used as a Toy really as I work at home, if I had to commute anywhere I would be swapping it for a diesel as much as I love it.

I paid for it outright in an auction in August for 7.1k, generally great condition, the worst part is probably the curbed alloys that the previous owner did and again is something I wish I had the money to sort out, there was a nimbus grey one at the auction the same day which is a great color and that fetched 6.7k with over double the mileage on.

Thanks, sounds kind of expensive to run but no more than the Corolla its the little niggly issues that put me off

You could say that, or you could say that I took your opinion and the opinion of others and sat down and chewed on them for a bit and came up with the conclusion that it would be nice to have a shiney Clio 197 and if anything goes wrong with it just dump it on the dealer but it would be nicer to have a car I dont give a crap about and the extra money to **** up the wall, spend on PC or what have you. I called The Dean a troll and IMO reading through it again, he still is
