Clio 200 Cup via finance

http://www.warrantydirect.co.uk/summary_m.html#

Maximum Age to Start cover - 12 years
Maximum Mileage to Start cover - 120,000 miles

From memory my policy has a contribution to parts that goes up with mileage but not age, and 100% labour is covered.

They've relaxed it recently then, but even so, only the two lowest levels of cover have that.

I've no idea why we are discussing this. Buying a warranty for a £3k Clio is a waste of time and money because they'll get out of most claims and it isn't major mechanical failure thats the problem! You will NOT buy yourself hassle free motoring with no bills by getting a warranty on an 8 year old Clio.

Surely anyone buying a 172/182 buys one thats had the belts already done?

Are you suggesting a car only needs its belts changed once in its lifetime?

It's an every X miles/years thing...

Not at all, but as far as I'm aware its 5 years or 50kish miles.

So in 2 years of ownership and 10-12k miles in total, nothing major should need changing.

Edit : Providing you think it through before buying. Mine had just had the belts changed at Renault at a cost of £900 a few months before I bought it.

True, but you will get a lower TCO on an 8 year old Clio. Not 'a bit' lower, but over £100 a month lower.

4 years / 36,000 miles is the greatest regularity that I've read. So as long as you buy one that's had it done, you only need to budget for doing it once every for years, which if you buy right, might mean you've moved it on by the time the bill comes. Same story with discs/pads.

I made a couple of points in an "old member has been sold a boxster that's 'a bit' of a stretch" kind of way, and then disagreed that anyone that can't afford/justify a brand new Clio 200, can't afford a Clio 172.

What happened to your 330Ci?

I'm paying 350 ish more than Adam? Look at overall vehicle cost, Quick maths of the top of my head. Im at work

My maths would be better if I could actually count... :o

I thought the difference was £780, but I'd included 12 months tax in that.

I make the difference 6331-5876=£455 but I'm tired now. I meant well, enjoy your new toy... :)

Can't decide whether to add the recaros. Theres still room to move on the order.

I had this decision to make and didn't bother in the end although I wish I had added the folding mirrors. Didn't occur to me that it may be useful for putting in the garage until it was too late :p I didn't bother due to a) the cost and b) the questionable build quality. They do look so so so good but are they £1k (or 1/15th of the car) good?

Mine has now left the factory :)

How come you didn't bother?

They seem quite a reasonable option as its too much of a faff to add them later.

Also saw the rs monitor the other day which was cool

I should prob stick to the deal as is because why make a great deal more expensive with options.

The recaros aren't even *that* good imo, they look nicer than the standard ones but thats about it, the standard ones are still very comfy and hold you well, the recaros also suffer from fraying on the seat bolsters.

decided against the Recaros. Changed the spec today slightly though, added on tunepoint and bluetooth and the RS Monitor

RS Monitor is a bit of fun really, shows power output in realtime display along with 0-60 times and a G force display (something I mistook my 172 for having :p)

This is what mine will look like
