Clio 'juttering' in the morning

Drivers? :p What you trying to say!?! :D

Hm...Not sure what to do then...unless i get my friend to run a fault code diagnostic on it see if throws anything back? Problem is by the time i've got there the fault will be gone!

I'll check the wiring tomorrow, see if theres anything else worn through...Other than that I did think about the spark plugs, but the coils ill have to have a think about, the way people describe it, it does makes sense :)

Thank you all

The thing that doesn't quite match up with the coil packs is that you say your problem goes away after a few mins? That tells me that you may have to look elsewhere for the underlying problem.

Well, the replacement of the coil packs sorted my juddddderrrring out :)

They are only 30-odd  off the 'bay, and I bet they have never been changed

First time mine went, the car was one year and one week old - when they only gave a year warranty. Had to stonk up a fair bit more than that!

What could explain it clearing up is that you need a stronger spark when the engine is cold, a dodgy coil can often be much more perceptible when cold.

With any good ECU, fault codes are logged, so if it would cause a readable fault you can get it read after it cleans up.

Thank you everyone

I'll have to look into the coil pack, no idea which to get so some looking around will need to be done, especially on the location of them! :p

Shame it wasn't just the cables showing causing the problem :(

I had a 52 plate clio which didnt have the recall to correct it cutting its ecu wires.

Was driving to london and it started doing the exact thing you described. Pulled over and noticed it had chewed some wires. Used some insulation tape I had in the boot (Luckily I had my RC kit car kit on board as I was travelling for a practice day :)). I then started her back up and it still did it.

Limped to a local Renault garage (After a quick Google, saying there was a recall for the fault). Took it there and was stuck most of the day while they replaced the ECU, wireing loom and the faulty case.

Next morning drove home good as new.

Nice...that thread points to a number of issues it could be :p

Already had the cables covered in electrical tape and the top cover left off the ECU thing, so not sure if its that still...

Ideally I'd like to re-insulate all the wires seperately, but don't think that's a viable soloution really...

ugh

Hello

Car was behaving itself since the last post...since then its got a bit worse...

Just tried re-insulating some of the wire more-so, so hopefully that will help me somewhat.

Now just need to figure out how to actually tighten the damn box up with its stupid mechanism =/

Best thing to do is take the box off but good luck with that, took almost an hour to get the one off my clio, its got a weird cog mechanism at the back, almost as if they dont want you to remove it.

Oh the top part comes off easy...it was loose anyway :p

It's tightening it back up thats the issue! It is supposed to be 'tamper' proof after all ;)

Just leave it off as it serves no purpose!!

I just used electrical tape to sort the chaffed wires.

Yeah...it was off for a while...Just i'd rather find a plastic cap and cover it that way to be honest :p

Wires have been taped up, so has the loom, still getting the issue...However my exhaust emissions sensor has come back on...Surely the Lambda sensor wouldn't make the car jump like this? =/

Although I keep reading on this being the issue

The voice of experience speaking here, REPLACE the loom with the modified version and do not refit the ecu anti-tamper cover that chops through it. The looms are circa £100 from renault off the top of my head, may even be less thinking about it now. Its a very common issue.

If that doesn't solve it, crank position sensor change. Again not expensive.

That's the thing, I need to know what the cause is and there are currently about 4 or 5 conflicting issues :p

Its silly, and expensve :( Especially when I have no money

Sorry to drag up a old thread but did you ever find a solution to this because my clio has started with the same issues on a morning and im thinking of replacing the wiring loom as I have changed everything else!
