Got a taxi home from a little staff do last night, i noticed when the taxi driver (normal hire MPV thing) used the SAT nav to get me from South Gate to Edmonton ( i was last on the route, party was in Mill Hill but he did not use the sat nav) his SAT Nav was saying 14.3 miles, when i know for a fact it was about 3-4 miles tops. Asked him about it and his only response was it must be broken. Its not the case that it did not pick up signal yet etc.. as it was navigating the current roads just fine and counting down miles.. though it did look to be losing miles a lot faster than he was driving :D
Is this something they use on unwary passengers to gouge more fare? :D

my old sat nav used to have 'use motorway' or 'not use motorway', there was no option for 'use it if its best to use the motorway'.
So i left it on 'use motorway' and it would always make me go on for at least 1 junction, even if it meant it was miles off route!
When i ignored the directions it would do what your drivers did, drop miles off quite quickly until i was nearer to the destination than the motorway

crazy crap
