Alright guys, now i dont normally frequent S'oton for clubbing too often and when i do it's usually down the Dungeon or the Ikon/Bambuubar area. Anyway off out there tonight and just wondering for the guys who live in the area which clubs are good to go for student types on a saturday night? Any suggestions is appreciated - apart from flares!

The Dungeon? Interesting choice of places.

Anyway, it all depends on what sort of places you like going.

A typical student night plan usually starts off at the Hobbit in Bevios Valley and then moves up into the high street, I quite like the drinks at the Square and then continue to Yate's to fully tank up. Depending on who I'm with we'll end up at Pikon (Ikon) or even somewhere like Ocean and Collins at the back of Woolworths.

Although saying that, if you like something a little different there is an interesting place called the Frog and Frigate in ocean village which is usually open till about 4.

Burnsy

If you want a bit of 80s, Reflex is ok, not my cup of tea though really.

If you like the Dungeon, Unit 22 is the place to go.

Indie/emo kinda vibe = Lennons

Poletrix/For Your Eyes Only are ok, mates gf works in Poletrix.

(Don't go to O&C, it's RUBBISH :p)

Well on nights out rock/metal isnt my favourite, that's reserved to gigs etc so anything dancey really, im based in bournemouth usually and the clubs i normally goto there are Toko, The Old Firestation, Opera House, Dusk til Dawn etc if anyone knows them. Anyway i guess i will start at the square actually then make my way further into town :)

I know them... but can't remember the differences between thurs/fri/sat lol

If you like Toko though - you'll like O&C for sure :)

Not wishing to put a dampner on things (heck you've probably left already anyway) but in my view Bournemouth is superior for that kind of scene. Bar Med/Toko/Bliss/Slam/Elements etc all in close proximity. As you like the Opera House then Ikon might be acceptable but it's really not in the same league. Both attract ****** (hence the moniker someone gave above) but at least OH is a good venue with good music.

Maybe I've just not been to the right places in Soton yet but I'd say the nightlife is a little disappointing for a town of this size.

Haven't actually been out in Bournemouth for a couple of years now which is a shame as expensive drinks aside I really like it.

Last time I was in Bournemouth (admittedly it was a stag night) but drinks were in the relgion of £3.50 for a bottle of bear and £4 for the chaser :/
