COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

Seeing quite a few hackers today, was on a nuke 24/7 server, may have been the one some members on here own, and one guy was up about 48/1. Didn't help that in killcam his aim snapped to people out of his line of sight. :rolleyes:
 
Another cod ruined by hackers, just had 2 people on a server running around with pistols destroying everything, joined another server and within a couple of minutes someone shows up does the same thing.

I might sounds like a conspiracy nut, but I can't help but feeling cod is being hacked way too easily and ultimately it will just benefit activision when they introduce a subscription based cod, justifying a monthly fee for a hacker free environment =/

Id assume the reason hacks are so easy to make is the engine is ancient. Its been used in every pc version of cod with upgrades for lighting etc.

Did I read somewhere its the old quake engine? Im not really sure if ive seen much in the way of hackers. Ive been playing the console version. pc gaming has hardend me up!

Its a heavily modified\rebuilt version of the quake 3 engine, if you look at the back of the black ops box it still makes mention of code licensed from id software. Been used in a lot of games like MOH:AA so its been around the block and hacked to crap.

Yeah they have had a while to exploit it then!
 
The engine doesn't really make much odds when it comes to hacks - someone will reverse engineer whatever engine within a few days and create a hack :( the only difference is idtech3 based engines are a more known quantity so they have a bit of a head start on knowing whats what.

Indeed. No game engine is safe from hackers! :(
 
Ok so i get this game today for my birthday and do you think I can play it properly? No! Looks like my ageing 8800gts 640 oc is going to be replaced, strange though cause i could have sworn that this game was based on the same engine as MW2 which ran perfectly on my system.

I have read a few peeps are having lag issues, will a new GFX help to counter this or am I wasting my money? I am thinking of spending some dosh on the OcUK Value GeForce GTX 460 1024MB GDDR5, would this be much better than my current card?

Similar card to me, turn off shadows if you haven't already and it should run a lot smoother.

Ive heard a lot of people having problems with all kinds of set up's running this game, its pretty smooth most of the time for me so I seem like one of the lucky ones. I heard it runs better on a quad core but cant confirm this. What cpu do you have?
 
Theres absolutely no reason why a 2.8+gig dual core and an 8800GT (or even 8800GTS 640MB) couldn't play this game perfectly fine upto 1680x with good/high settings if it wasn't for the sloppy programming... if they ever actually patch it properly you wouldn't need a new GPU.
