The acids in the Omega 3 family, EPA and DHA, are richer in fish oil than in comparison to cod liver oil. Yes, it's true that there is a higher level of vitamin A and D, and others, in cod liver oil. Fat soluble vits can be stored there so that's where we reap the benefits.
Oh, btw, you can take far more than the measly usual guide of 1 - 3 capsules a day, remember children need even more DHA for brain function than adults.
Absolutely. I have been taking a 1 a day Cod liver oil/Evening Primrose oil capsule, 3 times a day
for the last 7 years or so - and it has worked wonders. It stops my joints being sore, definately reduces inflammation and virtually banished all the muscle/tendon swelling I used to get after excercise...... It's also extremely good for your circulation as it acts as a natural blood thinner (and you can actually see the difference in the blood clotting time when you get a cut)In total I take almost 2000mg of Cod Liver oil per day - which consists 500mg of DHA and EPA (both of which have been proven to lower cytokines), plus 45mg of GLA (an Omega 6) from the Evening Primorose oil.
If you want to have any effect, don't waste your time taking 1 or 2 smallish size Omega 3 pills a day - it's pointless. You need to take a lot to notice the difference.
