Is coiling excess cable to a speaker rather than cutting to length going to have any impact on sound quality or is the difference going to be so small it would just be anal to care about it?

how much extra are we talking about?

Unless you are really really into your audio and have a high end system and even then I doubt you would be able to tell as long as its good quality cable.

You should in theory fold it back and forth, not coil it, as a coil is making an inductor, which can change the loading on the amp and the sound........

Note the forth word was "Theory" ..... Whether you hear a difference depends on many factors, level of Kit, type of insulation around the cable, it's construction.... bla bla bla..... and the fact someone suggested on the 'tinternet !!!!

Simple solution fold it and don't worry about it.
