Coincidences!

Was on my way to College and my friend and I were talking about stuff happening on the news including a hostage situation.

We got off a train and some nice fellow decided to take us hostage! \o/

That was a fun day!

I was on the bus talking to my friend about winning the lottery and what we'ed do.

I didn't win the lottery, though.

Whoah, more details please. That must have been horrible

Well it wasn't the best day that I had and it's not as bad as it sounds (compared to what you hear on the news anyway).

Basically this guy wanted to know if we knew any drug dealers in our College as he wanted to find them, kill them and nick their stash. We told him we knew nothing about stuff like that but he insisted that we did.

He wanted one of our mobile phones so that he could contact us when we've found the guys and he took my friends phone. He then asked us to take him to the train station so that he could catch a train home but we told him that we had to go to College, he then proceeded to take out a combat knife and told us that if we didn't he would kill us and that he also had a gun in his bag, which he promptly showed us and that point me and my friend looked knew that we where in deep ****.

So we followed him to the train station and he was almost about to leave when he was told that his ticket wasn't valid. So he decided to go for a walk and we followed him to the outskirts of Chichester, where he broke into a house so that he could find a address so that we can ring a taxi and go to Littlehampton. His master plan was that he now wanted us to help him break into a Woolworths warehouse there.

So the guy took our wallets and we got in the taxi and started to head towards Littlehampton. We stopped at some train gates that were down and that's when my friend showed me his hand which said 'When the car starts to move, get out and run' - at this point i told him no as i was just scared stiff plus we'd be leaving the taxi driver with this lunatic but in the end, as soon as the taxi started to move, we jumped out and just ran.

We jumped over a fence and knocked on a window and told the lady to ring the police... 10 minutes later the Police arrive and start questioning us.

They found the guy and he's now in prison, but might be out soon for good behaviour. Found out from the newspaper that he'd done the same to another couple of guys.

Now, you might read this and think that we could have just ran off or shouted for help or whatever, but that fact is, this guy had a knife and a gun (be it real or fake, i didn't want to find out) and we didn't want to make this guy angry as he could have just started shooting and stabbing in every direction so we decided to keep going till we found the best time to escape.

Not exactly the spooky story of the century but Freefaller and I both went to Loughborough University at exactly the same time but only met for the first time at an OcUK meet shortly after we both graduated.

My old man was in London years ago and was trying to find a building where he was due to have a meeting, he knew it was one of two roads, took one road 2 minutes later a nail bomb went off in a pub down that street.

My old man was at another meeting in London during the 7/7 bombings - he was the last person able to get onto the train at Victoria afterwards.

My former boss was due to be in a meeting on one of the floors in the North tower that was wiped out on impact in 9/11, he'd forgotten some papers in one of the other offices so had to go there first.

One of my brother's friends was seconded to the Cantor Fitzgerald office. The day it happened he was late for work.

When I was younger, one of my school 'friends' stole my first boyfriend from me, then she went out with my second boyfriend too... anyway this behaviour wasn't tolerated so the whole friendship group turned against her.

Since then, there have been numerous occasions when I have thought 'hmm will I see x out today - I bet I do' and I do

I was in Dubai in October and ordered a Thai Green Chicken Curry at one of the restaurants (along with one of my friends). Our other friend ordered chicken and sticky rice - which looked much nicer and then I saw Chicken Katsu Curry on the menu and regretted my choice! From then on I was hoping something would be wrong with my order so I could change it (almost praying).

They brought out two Thai Curry PRAWN curries! :D

So I changed my order - my other friend wasn't too happy that we had to wait longer but I was overjoyed!

Similar thing happened at lunch the other day at work... I was hoping for my chicken escalope panini to have sweet chilli sauce in it and not hoisin sauce... and it did! :p

My dad was a VOSA inpector who would check MOT garages were doing their job properly. One evening he decided to swap shifts as a favour.

His friend and the guy who he swapped with were both shot dead that night. :(

I was very ill with the flu and needed to moved by ambulance to hostpital. My girlfriend at the time walks into my room with a neck guard on. A few hours earlier she'd also been rushed to hostpital after writing her car off at a junction.

I was at the tram stop and was about to get on the tram when some rude person push's infront of me, so i go to the other side of the rude person and was then given a free ticket by somebody walking off the tram. I believe this was both fate and karma at work.

When much younger I went back packing round europe by myself. After 6 weeks of travelling I was waiting for a train on a platform in a smalll station somewhere in France when one of my friends who had also decided to spend the summer backpacking appaeared on the opposite platform, heading the opposite direction!

10th birthday got at a cricket match, playing with other kids in the boundry, i hear "heads!". think someone has said "hey!" so i look up at the exact moment the ball hits my on the bridge of my nose, if i had looked up a second sooner or later it would have either given me brain damage/killed me and hit my temple, hit my nose lower down and broken in/killed me

I've got a painting of the NY skyline on my wall..

Me and my friend were throwing stuff at each other, i had this toy plane, i missed him, the plane hit the trade centre...

The next day....

Coincidence or magical painting?

Was playing poker with some of my mates a year or so ago. To the annoyance of my fellow players I'd been dealing myself some cracking hands all evening and when my next deal came round I said "Pocket aces this time please". My mate Steve turns round and says "yeah right that'll do me as well thanks".

I deal, take a look at my hand and can't believe my eyes when I see two aces in front of me!! FInding it quite hard to hold back my excitement, we play through the hand and it ends up me and Steve in an all-in heads-up. Steve shows his cards and my jaw drops when he throws down pocket aces as well!!!

The chances of it happening are slim enough, but for it to happen to the two people who joked about being dealt that particular hand at that particular time is just mind-blowing!
