Comeuppance

As above the overtake on the elise was a bit late and forced the car offline mid corner. Not dangerous but laking etiquette. Apart from that they were putting no-one in danger. The following distance was fine as they obviously were very talented. I would bet on them being a racer of some sort, either track, rally or drift. Yes they binned it as they were on the limit and made a mistake.

Having said that you really shouldn't be at 10/10th's on a trackday no matter what your experience. A bit stupid but doesn't deserve the ripping being given.

Go watch the video again, that car had lost grip on the front, I suspect due to the front tyre deflating, also corroborated by the LADY driver looking at the wheel afterwards.

Someone who can drive like that, doesnt suddenly go off on an easy corner in that fashion with big understeer.

Really don't think it was a mistake, bad luck maybe, but that is track driving and I disagree about not going 10/10ths. Maybe you can't on UK track days, but on european ones you can, and that is the best place to do it.

how dare they drive like that on the road and put innocent members of the public at risk.. save it for the track, oh wait!!!!

it's a track, for driving fast on... not comeuppance, they didnt deserve it. everyone there knows the risks, it's a track.

thought evo driver was driving pretty well... and having a ton of fun.

what you really meant was "how dare someone drive like such a tool endangering everyone else and their cars"

you wouldnt be so impressed if he had pranged you

fantastic vid though... as old as the hills, a classic

how were they driving like a tool ?

Simon norris did indeed get torn a new one big style on sn and mlr though he admitted fault and sorted it out, from what i've heard his driving leaves a lot to be desired a case of not enough talent.

Wasn't exactly the best way to get round more flamboyant/show off than taking nice lines (yes we know your 4wd) imo... which ended up costing him his nice car.

But track days are for fun regardless of your style tis a shame on the guy.

As I say mate, until he (or is it she?) ran out of talent (which may well have been the moment they turned they key....) either way, its a track day where I'd rather see somebody driving in that manner there than on the roads.

Unlucky, but thats the chance you take on such occasions, as for giving it 10 10ths, if you can't do that on a track, when can you?

They were driving far too aggressively around other vehicles putting them at danger. If he understeered when passing the S1 then theres a collision right there.

It's a trackday, not a race.

He should have been blacked flagged before it got to the stage of the crash. What an idiot.

He makes good cars though, my uncle has one of his Norris's R32 GTR's.

Most of the replies in this thread are the reason I would never bother with a trackday.

Maybe you lot would be better off going around a track in a minibus tour or something? The track wasn't in the UK and therefore doesn't have the silly restrictions we have over here. People know the risks and are willing to accept them.

I thought a track day was where you could push your car to the limits. The person in the video went beyond that. I can understand that on the Nurburg where you may be aiming for a specific time but on a normal track there really wasn't the need for this - most of the guys on a trackday may be first timers or inexperienced and when someone is driving two inches of your bumper it's not funny.

He/she was driving like a muppet and this shows when the car flips.

I take it you are given a peice of paper explaining exactly what your cars limits are or something

How does one push a car to the limit whilst insuring they never, ever, ever exceed them?

I think many people commenting on this thread do not appreciate that not all track days are run like novice days in the UK and drifting is not always frowned on either, as it isn't in the UK if you're good at it and on the right event. Many of the European track days allow overtaking on any side and in braking areas, they leave it to the grown ups to make the decision and if you have issues with that then don't take your car on track. Now I agree that this person was show boating but did seem to have some talent and if SHE was an instructor she was probably demonstrating what the car was capable of, at the end of the day it was an Evo not and Elise, she was doing what Evo's make easy with practice.
