Commuting - How much time do you spend?

I can just not imagine commuting an hour each way or understand why people do it, for a cash and time thing.

Currently my commute is 13miles and takes 30-40mins door-to-door. I'd preferably live closer but 1hr 20mins max a day is easily doable. Got an interview this week for a job 45miles away though down the M11 though, bit far for me :p.

I cycle 4 miles to work, which takes about 15-20mins (each way). Could do it faster if there wasn't traffic or traffic lights! Then I faff around for about 10-15mins once I get in locking my bike up, getting changed, etc.

About 1h30 each way - car, train, tube (or Borisbike). iPhone+headphones = great opportunity to catch up on all those DVD box sets I've never had the chance to watch.

Have been doing the same commute for 20 years.

I can get to work in 25 minutes (9.1miles) but I drop my brother off to school so that adds 10mins. Life is harsh!

When i was working in London it took me about 2 hours to get to work each day.

Now i work in Portsmouth it takes me about 40 minutes to get there and 30 minutes to get back :D

15-25 mins depending on traffic (which is never really bad) so it's a pretty nice commute :)

Old job took me 35 minutes (drive + train). New job is a 15 minute drive. Although they are planning to relocate, so that's going to jump to a 40 minute drive. Would prefer to get the train though :(

Leave house at 7.15am. Get to train station about 7.35am. Train at 7.46am. At work by 8.35am. So about 1 hour 20 minutes to work. I leave at 4pm and I'm home by 5.30pm so one hour 30 minutes back home. So 2 hours 50 minutes from door to work and work to door. :(

I've just gone from a 120 mile/2 hour round trip per day to working from home... awesome.

Saying that I'm currently 200 miles/3hrs30 away from home.... not sure what happened there :)

Takes me about an hour ten if I cycle part of the journey or an hour forty if I use public transport all the way. It's pretty sucky but it won't be forever.

Door to door is almost always less than 45 minutes unless I'm really rather unlucky with cancelled trains, the train journey itself is only about 15 minutes but I've got a bit of a walk at either end. I'm pretty lucky as far as London commuting goes, especially as I didn't work out how long it would be before I moved here.

Commute takes anywhere between 25 and 60 minutes each way.

Between 10 days, 19 hours and 55 minutes and 26 days a year.

So that's between 3% and 7% of my life handed over to TFL. The least they could do is run on time.

I just turned down an interview because it was the wrong side of London, and would involve a tube and 2 buses. That would have been an hour each way if the stars aligned. Currently about 35 mins door to door, with 15-20 mins walking.

it varies. On a good day it's a 5 minute walk each way. On a bad day (i.e. I get stuck behind a slow walker and can't get past) it can take about 7 minutes :D
But in the snow it takes about 20 minutes because it gets very slippery.
