Commuting - How much time do you spend?

Depends, 10 minute drive 2-3 times a week, 30 minute drive twice a week but it's all against prevailing traffic and the latter commute is 30 miles along the 101 with the Pacific on one side and mountains on the left - there are worse commutes :D

Then once a month a 300-mile round trip to Bakersfield and back (2hrs 45 mins each way) and once a month a trip to L.A. and back (150-mile round trip, 2 hrs each way - traffic yo).

That said, being paid for travel time and mileage on top makes the commute a bit easier :) Being stuck in bad traffic is much more painless when you're getting paid for it :p

For decades I've been preaching that your pay per hour should not only be divided by the hours you work but how long you spend travelling.
I worked with 2 guys who were on £9/hour but when you took travelling/petrol into account they were on £4.50/hour.
My working day starts when I leave the house to when I get home but luckily it's a 10 minute journey.

This. I have always judged jobs on the time from leaving your front door to returning.

People used to think I was mad driving two hours each way to work but as I pointed out to a guy once, we both left our houses about the same time in the morning and returned home at about the same time even though he was 15 minutes from work but I had a company car and got paid more than him, so who was the mad person?

Personally now that I am older and work longer hours in the office, I couldn;t hanlde two hours each way and value my spare time more than I do money.

20 minutes on the morning and 15 mins on a an evening:) the road back is less busier for some reason. Probable because school rush was an hour earlier.

Around 25-30 mins car journey with the wife, who drops me off at a park and ride for a 10/15 minute bus ride into town.

Same but the other way round for the journey home :)

Depends on how much my employers or the DWP screw things up. Normally it is 1.5 hours total but when things go SNAFU, it can be as much as 4 hours in a day.

I would live to say that it happens very rarely, but that would be a flat out lie :o

Depends on traffic - normally 25-35 minutes in the morning, can be 35-90 minutes in the evenings though, stupid M1 traffic.

Only choice to go by Car, train would be 90 minutes at least with 4 changes and costs more than 3 times the fuel cost.

And they want us to use Public Transport more...

10mins if the motorway is quiet. but I tend to take the back road way so I can predict my arrival time more accurately, takes about 18-20mins.

Where did you decide on then cymatty?
