Ok so i'm a "developer" and have been so for two years, in that time my company have sent me on one course and that was for Python. Which i've never used. Now the problem with my work is that the development is in their own product i.e. it's not a commonly used product and unless I were to go into a similar line of work afterwards the knowledge i have gained from it will not be used again.
Now I was thinking about doing some sort of management type job sometime in the future, at the moment i have no idea where to start, so a course would be good. Would you ask the company to pay for extra curricular (sp?) stuff like this, I could say something like it'll give me a good understanding of what is involved in my bosses job and could also help me manage myself better, or something like that anyway.
Anyone else done something similar?
