I never use them I usually book directly with the companies but this time searching for cheap car hire a friend recommended travelsupermarket.com

When I used them they were finding deals 100 quid cheaper than going direct so I thought why not.

All the correct boxes had green ticks and I'm good to go.

I now find I'm dealing with carhiremarket.com who say all is included but it's not they found me a good deal through HOLIDAYAUTOS.COM who found a car via IRISHCARRENTAL.COM so I booked.

However Irish Car Rental's t&c are not as advertised by travelsupermarket.com holidayautos.com and carhiremarket.com and everything is definitely not included.

They even want to charge 30 euro just to cross the border  this is the first time I've seen such a charge. However it's the 15% to cancellation fee that has me annoyed as one of my main filters in my initial travelsupermarket.com search was FREE cancellation :(

I mailed irishcarhire.com about this and they don't have any reservation (which is good since I don't really want to go with them) however irishcarrental.com is really EUROPCAR.com lol

Just looked again at my reservation and in tiny print it says

Thank you for making your car hire reservation through mietwagenmarkt.de

So now I have

travelsupermarket.com
carhiremarket.com
holidayautos.com
irishcarrental.com (AKA Europcar.com)
mietwagenmarkt.de

Anyone else had nightmare experiences of these sites.

It's just confirmed what I always thought about them that they were scam artists and their searches were not reliable, I knew I should have not listened to my friend :o

lol probably not since I don't have any booking..

/goes to check credit card statement

Lol meatwagon. I think "mietwagen" actually means "Car Rental" in german, but it is hilarity.

i used a "cheap" company, and like you their options didbt match the one i booked through, but nothing too bad so i went with it. Got to pick the car up, and the quote i was given was increased drastically with a lot of compusory surcharges i didnt want but couldnt refuse. Personally, i'll go direct in future.

Well after phoning carsupermarket.com they confirmed I'd reserved with holidayautos.com so I phoned holidayautos.com and irishcarrental.com and my booking is confirmed it's 170€ cheaper than going direct. Like you Pug I'm sure I'll be stung somewhere in the small print just hope it's not for 170€

had similar issue when looking for van insurance. started at gocompare and ended up with some random company that took about 20 companies to get to. if the insurance wasn't reduced to £1.5k per year i wouldn't have bothered but i didn't want to pay over £2k per year
