Yes, but it's best to use the 6 channel direct input. 3.5mm connections in other words.

If you use optical from a PC, you'll need a Dolby Digital or DTS encoded audio stream to get proper 5.1. That motherboard doesn't have Dolby Digital Live or DTS Connect, which are used to encode the audio with 5.1 in real time. Without Dolby Digital or DTS encoded audio, optical can only send stereo. It will work, but you'll end up with stereo upmixed to fill all speakers.

Far better to use the 6 channel direct input. Optical input is ideal for use with consoles and maybe with DVD/Blu-ray players, because the games or movies already have Dolby and/or DTS. PC games don't.
