Computer not detecting wireless network.

That's screwed up - it should be getting a 192.168.1.x IP the same as the USB interface did.
You could try disabling IPv6 (which is where the weird IPs etc are coming from), but it's doubtful it would fix anything.

Before it was mentioned putting the cd in, presumably the router one, but all the router has on it is the crap instructions and the usb driver.

You don't need the CD, the machine should just automatically get an IP from the router.
Tried manually setting it to match what the USB interface got (IP 192.168.1.2, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.1.1 etc)?

ok now the problem is xp is assigning an emergency ip addy, what you need to do is the di sconnect the phone line from the router, then on the pc disable your firewall and / or windows firewall.
then do this
start ----> run-----> type cmd you should get a black window.
type this ipconfig /release all
then type ipconfig /renew

if that dosent work do this start control panel network connections, and select the lan card right click and click repair. like the pic
then do a screen shot.
op then stat run cmd ipconfig /all

That router comes with a cd that runs on a pc, the cd is the routers set up programme via the lan, its setups everything up on the router, all it asks is type of dsl, isp username and password, then it setups up the router so all you need is to connect pcs via the lan and its ready to go.

That's all very nice but it's totally irrelevant, especially if (as the OP says), it doesn't do that.

You still seem to be having problems with the Edit button too.

i asked him to reset the router insert the cd run follow the instructions, then we can get onto the wireless part.

Given the router doesn't seem to want to dish out a DHCP lease on the wired interface, wireless is a bit far off for now.

i know that router comes with a set up disk, would have been very easy.

see i have that routers firmware here with me now and the cd but dont want him to mess up the upgrade. what i might do is grab the router and get the same firmware as he has.

That doesn't get round the fact that a) the DHCPd appears to be enabled (since the USB port got an IP) and b) the network card didn't.
Resetting it and trying it like that (without the CD you're obsessed with) is just as easy, and so's just sticking the settings (that have already been detailed) into the web interface). But we've already been through that...

Couldn't do the release all, it wouldn't work...

'This operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissable for this operation'

Ok, the latest...

Good news, now when i plug in my router via ethernet it connects 100Mbps!

Bad news, i have once again lost my internet connection.

I tried setting the dns numbers back to the ones from tiscali like before but still no luck, no internet connection.

Is it getting assigned an IP by the router though (ie ipconfig /all shows a 192.168.1.x IP)?
